Her vision of what an atelier should be and how a designer can properly expand proposals within the bridal industry were not wrong. Today, her brand is available worldwide. Such an expansion means a lot for the local industry of Barcelona due to the fact that manufacturing is located in the city. In an era of fast fashion and e-commerce, we are thankful to fashion entrepreneurs who have firmly advocated for local couture.
For her Spring 2020 collection, themed “Cathedrals”, Inmaculada Garcia evoked the eternal beauty of couture with a collection filled with true craftsmanship, details and hours of artisan work that have created unique and timeless pieces. The beauty of stained glass windows inspired the designer with the play of light that shines through.
The collection was filled with natural fabrics, delicate Chantilly, Tulle, organza, paillettes, lace and feathers, which converged to create volume in the designs with beautiful movement. There were silhouettes of long, ethereal dresses, to v-necklines, corsets and shorts. It’s a collection for every type of woman, from the classic and romantic, to those who love unique and unconventional designs.
Inmaculada confessed to us prior to the show that the international expansion of her brand has made her creativity even more ambitious. She stated, “The many different women you see, the more you want to know them so as to fulfill their desires. Then, you obviously discover more possibilities and novelties that empower (the way I face) the design process and selection of the materials”.
In this fashion journey, Inmaculada has a loyal creative partner, Javier Ros. Javier is one of the most in demand florists in Barcelona and has always provided Inmaculada with the beauty of his floral creations. Aligned with the solemnity of the “Cathedrals” theme, Javier created the flowers with his hands — not natural flowers, but ceramic ones instead, and others in golden metal, so as to preserve the idea of eternal beauty.
And to complete each look, little bags simulating nests, floral belts, long earrings, endless bracelets and amazing hair accesories, were paired in one of the most admired collections of this Valmont Barcelona Bridal Fashion Week.
