Oscars 2025: Unforgettable Fashion Moments from the Red Carpet

With the Oscars 2025 in the books, it’s time to round up our favorite fashion moments from this year’s 97th red carpet held on Sunday, March 2, 2025 in Hollywood, California.
While the stars were definitely shining on this night, or should I be accurate and say “afternoon” — it was a pretty tame red carpet when it came to the fashion choices. There were a few dramatic looks, but for the most part, traditional gowns and tuxedos were the norm. There was the exception of Adam Sandler in the skit with host Conan O’ Brien, but we’re all in on the fashion joke.
Oscars 2025 Fashion Highlights: Women
Ariana Grande
For the ladies, we’re starting with the most dramatic and memorable looks that walked the red carpet, beginning with Ariana Grande in Schiaparelli Couture SS25, fresh from the runways of Haute Couture Week in January 2025. This was one of my favorite looks from the couture collection and so when Ariana walked onto the red carpet, this was a no brainer. It is sculpturally dramatic, yet with the soft color palette, it is sublime.

Cynthia Erivo
Ariana’s “Wicked” co-star, Cynthia Erivo arrived in full “Elphaba” glam and this Louis Vuitton forest green gown left us speechless. Between the pointed collar which beautifully framed her face, the bowed-out shoulders, and the volume on the skirt, this was a beautiful homage to her character and a perfect way for her to end an amazing red carpet season.

Yasmin Finney
Unless you’re a fan of the Netflix series “Heartstopper,” you may not be familiar with our next choice of Yasmin Finney. While Cynthia Erivo brought us voluminous glamour, Finney delivered vertical beauty with the soaring peacock feathers which beautifully framed her face. The curved feathers were just the right amount of drama and beauty in the Harris Reed dress. And when paired with her sheer, black gloves, Finney definitely left her mark on the red carpet. Our only question is did the people sitting behind her have trouble seeing the stage?

Halle Berry
While there were so many beautiful looks on the red carpet, the following three looks also caught our eye starting with Oscar-winner Halle Berry in a striking mirror-ball dress from Christian Siriano. Between Halle’s perfect hair and make up, and her ageless beauty, the dress fit her beautifully. The matching train also added just the right amount of drama and whether intentional or not, it appears that there are delicate floral patterns created within the dress as well as the black contouring which the eye follows from top to bottom. Genius!

Selena Gomez
Selena Gomez brought another unforgettable fashion moment to the red carpet. While she has been showing up in one stunning gown after another during the award’s season, she continued with another polished look in this custom Ralph Lauren, off-the-shoulder gown in a soft, mauve/blush color. Flawless, polished, radiant — perfection!

Elle Fanning
Our final most unforgettable fashion look on the red carpet is the custom couture Givenchy gown created by new Creative Director, Sarah Burton for actress Elle Fanning. Elle appeared on the red carpet and all this editor could think of was a royal princess. Flowers adorned the white dress with matching train/cape and was punctuated with a simple black bow around the waist. This is what fairy tale dreams are made from and we can’t wait to see what Burton has in store for the house during this week’s Paris Fashion Week FW25 event, but we digress.

Oscars 2025 Fashion Highlights: Men
As for the gents, it was a very traditional parade of tuxedos on the red carpet, but for the most part, handsome and dashing come to mind. There were a few standouts and color was the biggest factor.
Colman Domingo
Colman Domingo is not shy in terms of color, styling and accessories. For the Oscars, he stood out in Valentino — a beautiful red, double-breasted, tuxedo jacket with contrasting black lapels, matching red shirt, an elongated belted sash with black tassels, and black trousers. It’s a striking look and a welcome break from the sea of dark formal wear on the other gentlemen.

Jeremy Strong
Another color daredevil is actor Jeremy Strong. We’ve seen quite a range of looks this past award’s season, but for the Oscars, the actor wore a more traditional suit from Loro Piana that beautifully complemented his wife, Emma Wall. What stood out for this editor is Strong’s suit color — a sophisticated olive/brass hue, along with the pairing of the unique tie. Between the color, the fit and unique tie, this is fresh and Oscar worthy.

Kit Connor
Actor Kit Connor, known from his Netflix series “Heartstopper” and for his current role in “Romeo+Juliet” on Broadway, is another that we’re star we’re calling out from the red carpet. The double-breasted suit with oversized lapels is from Giuliva Heritage. While it’s a simple black tux, the oversized lapels and the double-breasted nature of the jacket draw one’s eye up to the face and perfectly accents Connor’s already broad shoulders. It’s classic with a simple, modern twist and sets Connor apart on the red carpet.

Omar Apollo
Our final unforgettable fashion moment is from actor Omar Apollo, most recently seen in the movie “Queer” with Daniel Craig. Apollo’s fashion forward look is from Valentino, but what sets it apart is the daring addition of the veil, along with polka-dotted shirt and micro polka-dotted scarf/tie accessory. While the classic tuxedo is the main anchor, the creativity that we see in Apollo’s look from head down to the waist is so stylish and daring. We love it!

Let us know what your most unforgettable fashion moments were from this year’s Oscars — we’d love to hear.
