Traditionally kicking off New York Fashion Week (NYFW) Men’s in past seasons, its role has become even more important given that it’s been two years since the last official NYFW Men’s event. At this rate given the ongoing challenges surrounding a global pandemic, who knows if, or when NYFW Men’s will return. At least for now, NYMD has successfully carved out a place on day one of the NYFW official calendar.
For this season, NYMD presented eight menswear and genderless brands including A.POTTS, STAN, Teddy Vonranson, William Frederick, Atelier Cillian, Clara Son, Nicholas Raefski, and The Academy New York. Like past NYMD events, each label had an opportunity to present its latest collection in its own creative way, this year under the roof of Canoe Studios.
Joining the emerging brands, Perry Ellis America presented its Fall/Winter 2022 collection and hosted a competition with the other participating designers. The selected winner will create a special capsule collection on behalf of the brand. The Perry Ellis America design competition aims to support and welcome emerging talent and be an example of a legacy American heritage brand fostering and uniting with the new generation of designers.
It’s always a pleasure to see such a diverse range of collections all under one roof and having the iconic Perry Ellis America brand as part of this season’s collections helps bring even more attention to NYMD.
