Discover the depth and musicality of the Ruohan SS25 – Spring/Summer 2025 – collection unveiled on day two of Paris Fashion Week (PFW).
Relatively new on the PFW calendar since Spring/Summer 2023, fashion designer Ruohan Nie made her return on the official PFW calendar on September 24, 2024 with her SS25 “Counterpoints” collection presented in the multi-story space of Lafayette Anticipations in the Marais arrondissement of Paris.
Harmony and dissonance served as inspiration for the collection and are ultimately grounded in the multifaceted essence of music as seen through the color palette, silhouettes, jewelry, oversized leather bags akin to instrument cases, and the incorporation of 22 live musicians thoughtfully positioned throughout the space.
Black and white streamlined looks opened the runway show, referencing piano keys. A range of models in various ages and ethnicities paraded across all three levels of the space in neutral, earth tones and crescendoed in looks made in deep, rich hues of burgundy and navy. Sleek, yet elegantly simple silhouettes were punctuated with unexpected curves and asymmetric moments, adding depth and freshness.
In addition to linen, beautifully referenced in the invitations sent out to guests, one also sees the incorporation of jersey, cashmere and denim for added depth and texture.
Together, every element beautifully harmonized into a sophisticated and confident collection created by such a young, yet talented designer. See every look below and hear more about the inspiration directly from designer Ruohan Nie in our backstage interview.
