Travel from Barcelona–Paris sponsored by Renfe-SNCF[/x_text][/x_column][x_column bg_color=”” type=”3/4″ style=”padding: 0px 0px 0px 0px; “][x_text]It is always a gift waking up in Paris and starting the day with Issey Miyake. The setting on day 3 of Paris Fashion Week Men’s, the Palais de Tokyo, where hundreds of fashion industry professionals from all around the world gathered. This was all made possible thanks to Renfe-SNCF, who provided me with amazing travel aboard their trains from Barcelona to Paris.
Under the title “Feeling the Wind”, designer Takahashi continues with his love story of nature — what man needs to embrace to be free.
From the rays of the sun, Miyake’s Fall/Winter 19/20 collection plays with the wind and its concept of elegant lightness and utility.
This concept has led Takahashi to investigate the possibilities of natural fabrics and methods like tie-dye, the traditional ikat and batik. All of this work is focussed in delivering a collection that is wearable and has a deligthful, personal elegance, capable of enduring long journeys full of different activities. The collection is just what the contemporary man needs.
The richness of the collection is also something to admire where materials such as Lyocell, wool, polyester and cotton are in play.
The looks and patterns bring us back to the beginings of the Issey Miyake brand, with the addition of tailoring applied in comfort and warm jackets with sharp shoulders and thick textiles. The iconic pants have a balloon feel with a single pleat in front. There are also a variety of colorful hightop sneakers from yellow, to electric blue and black.
The way Takahashi respects the inner essence of Issey Miyake is natural. Nothing is forced. His work constantly evolves and based on Japanesse roots, architecture, a love of nature and experimenting with new sustainable techniques — everything comes together to serve the current needs of today’s man, without having to forego exquisite elegance and style.
