As an ambassador for the Maasaï and Ndebele tribes, you won’t find the stereotypical khaki safari looks in this collection, but instead, a team of cricket players who paraded down the runway in fluorescent sandals, mixing vivid tartans with multicolored flower stitches. The looks are nonchalant chic — layering a smooth velvet hoodie with a colonial jacquard frock coat over lamé pants embroidered with 18th century animal scenes.
The collection, which defies classification, also encompassed models wrapped in tartan or spotted fur blanket, crowned with a bubble gum colored leather hat with a leopard-patterned lining. In the end, I loved this interpretation of a an African winter — bold, bright and unapologetic.
