In an interesting turn from last season’s FW23 collection centered around childhood and naiveté, designer Alejandro Gómez Palomo’s vision for Spring/Summer 2024 has matured to one of full-on adult sexuality and the gamut of related emotions and possibilities. His latest collection “Cruising in the Rose Garden,” was unveiled on day two of New York Fashion Week in September 2023.
“After presenting a Fall Winter collection that spoke about the freedom of childhood and a naïve approach to gender and clothing, it was the most natural process for me to react against that concept and focus on a more sexualized idea of a character that is now grown and aware of its power of attraction. This time I wanted to reflect on who I am now and allow myself to dive into my most romantic and sexual fantasies while still maintaining my love for storytelling. I also think that as a Spanish designer I have a responsibility to show my heritage and transmit my roots and the spirit of my culture.”

From virginal white and delicate fabrics and flourishes, contrasting hard and soft fabrics, to the lustful hues of blood red, roses, touches of Flamenco and a confidence in fusing the masculine with the feminine, we dive into a collection that isn’t ashamed to bare its true soul. Bold, provocative and liberating, Palomo bares his Spanish soul in the latest collection which punches gender norms in the gut.
Also of note for this season is the exclusive collaboration with Spanish accessories brand Bimba y Lola, including an exclusive capsule of bags and accessories featuring an updated version of Bimba y Lola’s hit, the “Tote Pocket Bag”.
