[/x_text][/x_column][x_column bg_color=”” type=”3/4″ style=”padding: 0px 0px 0px 0px; “][x_text]Set against the waterfront in a tented venue at the South Street Seaport Pier 16, the Joseph Abboud Fall/Winter 2019 collection closed down Day 1 for us at New York Fashion Week Men’s in an inspiring and breathtaking way.

The collection was filled with the themes of inclusivity, discovery and Americana — inspired by the early immigrants crossing the Atlantic and going through Ellis Island at the turn of the 20th century.

A rich, seasonal color palette made from washed tweeds, vintage velvets and time-worn flannels created an extensive collection of men’s tailored suiting filled with full trousers for ease in movement, capes that enveloped the models like warm blankets, and multi-layered, textural looks. Patchwork details were elevated to a new level and accessories included leather bags and duffels made with functionality in mind; distressed fedoras and caps designed in collaboration with Albertus Swaenpoel, as well as leather footwear created in collaboration with American heritage shoemaker Allen Edmonds – all coming together to create timeless, tailored looks which we have come to know and love from Abboud.

Other styling notes included backside double buttons which stylishly cinched the suit jackets, mismatched button accessories which added texture, and the double-wrap belt styling layered over several of the finished looks. Bravo to Abboud for finding inspiration from the tales of immigrants and weaving them into a collection that’s fresh, relevant and sorely needed in today’s America.
