Artist Ashley Longshore’s whimsical and playful use of color and texture help inspire the fabrication this season. Her women empowerment statements also inspire the silhouettes in the collection to celebrate the body and the women wearing them. Almost a hint of surrealism influenced by Jeff Koons series of work, Easyfun-Ethereal, moves throughout the collection with dramatic eye and lip print textiles used in unexpected ways. There is a focus on event dressing and eveningwear that is modern and elevated for our everchanging customer. I wanted the collection to feel playful, colorful, bright and romantic, but stillpowerful and exciting.” – Christian Siriano, Designer
This was the magazine’s first invitation to cover the runway event which was held at Gotham Hall. Stars in attendance included Lucy Liu, Alicia Silverstone, Sarah Michelle Gellar, Ashley Graham, Marsai Martin, Jennifer Coolidge, Atlanta de Cadanet Taylor, Meghan Trainor, Leigh Lezark, Derek Blasberg, Jeannie Mai, and Bretman Rock.
The 63 piece collection ranged from bright and vivid to dramatic and dark, but overall, there was definitely a playfulness woven throughout. Ruffles and tulle, metallics and pops of mint stood out as models paraded through the central art installation. And for the first time, several looks were modeled by men, giving Siriano’s runway an unexpected nod to gender fluidity.
For this editor, while the use of iridescent and metallic fabrics and the voluminous statement pieces in tulle caught our eye, the looks in black, with just the right amount of shimmer, beading, shine and sexiness really stood out and evoked the Siriano elegance I was expecting to see.[/x_text][x_tab_nav type=”two-up” float=”top”][x_tab_nav_item title=”Front Row” active=”true”][x_tab_nav_item title=”Runway ” active=”false”][/x_tab_nav][x_tabs][x_tab active=”true”][/x_tab][x_tab active=”false”][/x_tab][/x_tabs][/x_column][/x_row][/x_section]
