Such expectation is well understood by knowing the mind behind the brand, Charles Jeffrey.
The Enfant Terrible of LFW — someone who doesn’t care about politeness and trends when his aim is to focus in talking face-to-face to our younger age and spirit.
His artistic creativity, which made Charles one of the most sought-after stylists within magazines, always brought a unique, theatrical element to his runaways. All looks are perfectly curated. As a stylist, you say to yourself “It’s done! What else could I add?”. Even the makeup, hair and casting are always amazingly aligned with his designs and vision.
The SS19 LOVERBOY collection was themed around the Trans world. His patterns were so intricately complicated and mixed… but in a deliciously shocking way. The crazy combinations screamed out to the world that the Trans movement is something normal, commonplace and good.
Such enrichment exploded into colors and fabrics playing around the beauty of a human being, without paying attention to gender. Printed globe skirts, jackets with peplum, ruffles, wide trousers, rugby socks and a wonderful tartan-patchwork, tailored suit were the most desired by the editors who attended to the show.
Here is my risky prediction. Charles Jeffrey’s training included an internship in the couture atelier at Christian Dior. The new haute couture should consider adopting this rare talent. Maybe Charles will take the first step and start a desirable conversation between couture and Milennials.
