How can it already be July? Though summer is in full swing according to the calendar, it certainly hasn’t felt that way here in Chicago. Think September! Here’s hoping that you’ve been enjoying a real summer so far.
Despite Mother Nature, let’s make the most of this time of year and celebrate everything that has to do with enjoying the outdoors.
Have you savored a meal on your patio or balcony? Have you toiled in your garden and planted something new? Or, have you taken advantage of visiting a place you haven’t been in quite a while and enjoying it under the sun such as the zoo, the botanic garden or how about a neighborhood walking tour or architectural tour of some sort?

The possibilities are endless, yet it doesn’t have to be complicated. As I type this, I’m sitting outside on my patio on my chaise lounge enjoying a rare sunny and dry day. Unfortunately, I get easily distracted by all the birds coming to the bird feeder, but I digress. Oh wait, there’s a hummingbird right now…
To help you celebrate the summer season, the entire month of July is jammed packed with ideas from our editors spanning every area that we cover – from food, travel, home and style. And, with an amazing roster of guest contributors, you’ll get to meet some new talents, as well as reacquaint yourself with a familiar face that graced our magazine earlier this year.
But that’s not all. We’re introducing a new “Life” section and I’ll be sharing a tech/gadget story with a totally different perspective than what you might expect. And, we’ll unveil a brand new look and feel to the magazine as well as new content to help you get to know our editors. So hang tight, we’re putting the finishing touches and will flip the switch as soon as we can!
Welcome to our July issue. Welcome to the Great Outdoors. Just be sure to put on some sunscreen!

Delightful to find a few paras of your writing in this issue of VRAI – do miss your blog! Have other close blogfriends in Chicago and rest of Illinois, so know about the vagaries of your weather! Am at present envious of you working in the summer warmth: we are amidst our coldest month of the year and for us this year is proving just that! Glad that VRAI is not just doing well but getting bigger and changing: in spite of busy days hope to keep up with it 🙂 ! Enjoy your summer and a belated happy 4th!!!
Hi Eha! You are too kind I’m always here on the magazine so you don’t have to look far. Hang in there, soon, the tables will turn and we’ll be the ones cold on this side of the globe. Enjoy the season and make the most of it — I’ll enjoy summer while it’s here, although it’s felt more like fall than anything. Oh well, at least I’m not dealing with snow at the moment! Be well my friend! Danny
