But before going deeper into our subject, allow me to share my personal thoughts around “Inspiration”.
This muse is something that feeds us during our lives. It allows us to openly embrace experiences and novelties to satisfy our knowledge. If you’re alive and love life, inspiration is an accessory you wear with you. As far as Josep Font, Creative Director of Delpozo, is concerned, his passion towards all forms of art is passionately conveyed in his collections with a passion which I describe as insatiable. This explains why his patterns appear to refuse all limits.
For the Delpozo Resort 2019 (RE19) collection, it surprises us with a delicate and feminine freshness fed by Josep’s personal feelings towards the photography series “Swimming Pools” by the Slovak photographer Maria Svarbova and the sensuality and happiness born from the melodies of our beloved international maestro Xavier Cugat.
The result — an era where the old glam of Hollywood dances with the compositions of Cugat while colliding with the eye of Svarbova, who plays with experimentation of space, color and atmosphere. A public space like a swimming pool is revealed as a scene with a modern freshness that highlights the depth and range of the creative palette of Svarbova.
Imagine such a lovely scenario immersed with the Latin rhythms happily and sensually whispered from the Xavier Cugat’s orchestra. A pool party in the evening at the iconic Waldorf Astoria acts like the runaway of the Delpozo RE19 collection.
Beyond the feathers and paillettes, Delpozo recreates the neutral color palette of Svarbova with soft tones of warm sand, delicate ivory and white embroidery. The basis of this musical season is full of colorful patterns in cotton and a reinterpretation of paisley in silk gazar in shades of red, yellow, orange, turquoise, powdery rose and opal green.
Delicate and circular silhouettes with curved seams on skirts and tops, dresses sculpted at the waist, ruffles falling in cascade with its own rhythm, pleats and gathers in the shape of petals and bows as if the wind had blown and had rested gently on the shoulders and necklines.
