Christian Juul Nielsen to Depart Herve Leger as Creative Director
Nielsen will continue to design his AKNVAS collection
New York, NY, June 15, 2023 – Christian Juul Nielsen is departing Herve Leger as Creative Director mid-June, after finalizing the design process for the brand’s resort collection. He has held the position since 2018. Upon his departure, Nielsen will focus solely as Creative Director of his own brand, AKNVAS.
Nielsen launched AKNVAS in 2019 as an advanced contemporary womenswear ready-to-wear collection. Since its inception, the brand has grown to include knitwear, outerwear, separates, dresses, and gowns for women and a seasonal menswear capsule collection. The brand has become a favorite of talent, including Kerry Washington, H.E.R., Nick Jonas, Mary J. Blige, and Sabrina Carpenter. The collection is sold at Nordstrom, Saks, Intermix, FWRD, and specialty stores worldwide.
“Over the past five years, I’ve enjoyed working with the Herve Leger team. It’s been a great experience designing such an iconic brand, bringing my European design background to the storied American label,” says Nielsen.
