As a result of discovering the central role pottery has played in Trypillian society, Bevza also showcases the beauty of handmade jewelry created by ceramicist Nadiia Shapoval – all of which is captured in the digital film unveiled during New York Fashion Week, this September 2020.
“I wanted to show how important it is to find our roots and make it interesting. This pandemic separated us with other nations and cultures,” said designer Svitlana Bevza. “We can communicate our customs to each other by telling a story of our own land.”
The resulting collection continues in the minimalistic and clean style we’ve come to expect in the Bevza brand. But even with an understated color palette of white, cream, mauve and black, there is an underlying dimensionality in the details and hints of architectural references in various looks. The addition of knitwear in the collection also adds another layer of texture to this already beautiful collection born from a rich Ukrainian history.
