by Danny de la Cruz, Founding Editor[/x_text][/x_column][x_column bg_color=”” type=”3/4″ style=”padding: 0px 0px 0px 0px; “][x_text]On the morning of the 18th of September, we landed in Heathrow after an overnight, eight-hour flight from Chicago. It was then a mad dash to the hotel to freshen up, quickly change and review the tickets that had arrived for the various catwalks and presentations that the team (Contributing Style Editor, Mabel Gago and Photographer @audreydlc) and I would attend over the next few days. Despite getting minimal sleep during the flight, I was energized and couldn’t wait to experience it all. At the same time I was also overwhelmed with the intense schedule of events.
It had been sunny upon arriving to the hotel, but out of nowhere, the clouds converged over London and rain poured over the city when it was time for us to head over to the Brewer Street Car Park, the new venue for this year’s events. It was the perfect time to hail down an iconic black cab.
Within minutes, the driver had deftly maneuvered his way to the venue in SOHO, but rather than driving through the “circus” ahead that was blocking the entrance — black Mercedes Benz autos dropping off VIPs, guests streaming from every direction and making their way into the building, fashionistas in their most attention-grabbing outfits parading in the sidewalks and side streets, photographers and paparazzi crowding around the entrance and onlookers watching from the sides trying to get a glimpse of it all — we decided to get out a half block away and quickly make my our way on foot to the entrance. We were waived through after flashing my pass and walked up a ramp to the show. There were still a few people milling around but as guests were quickly ushered to their seats, the crowd quieted down and the music started, we had made it just in time for the Bora Aksu catwalk.
From catwalks, designer showrooms, streetwear and private presentations, the VRAI Magazine Style Team and I will be sharing all that we experienced during London Fashion Week SS16. A special thanks goes out to the British Fashion Council for giving giving us access to this premiere, fashion event. I hope you enjoy our coverage. Click here for more of London Fashion Week SS16.
Danny it all sounds so exciting! Can’t wait to read the rest of the story 🙂
