Cover your Head
Travel to warmer climates calls for sun protection and Tilley is my go-to-hat to cover my noggin. I purchased the Tilley AIRFLO for my trip to South East Asia a couple of years ago and it’s been money well spent. It’s light weight, breathable, easy to clean and easy to pack. And most of all, I feel like Indiana Jones when I have it on my head. That’s the best reason of all!
But seriously, it’s stylish protection when the sun is beating down on you. It’s also water repellent with a wide brim so it allowed me to forego an umbrella to free up my hands during rainy days. I even wear it around the yard on hot summer days to protect my head, face and neck.
Cover your Eyes
Sunglasses are a no brainer. While style is often the main reason, protecting your eyes is the most important one of all. My Ray-Ban Aviator Classics are polarized and provide 100% UV protection. And best of all, they are ultra lightweight and you forget that you’re wearing them on your face. This is especially important in hot, humid destinations where you find yourself dripping with sweat. Not only are they lightweight, but they are durable and flexible enough to hold up to all the handling you do with sunglasses on any type of adventure.
Their classic style is essential for any travel wardrobe so whether dressing up or down, you’ll look sharp while protecting your eyes.
Get Covered
My last “love” is the global coverage I get when I rent an XCom Global device. For those trips outside of the U.S., rather than worrying about finding wifi when I travel or being limited to hotel wifi at the end of the day, this handy little device goes with me in my bag or pocket, and provides me with a secure, mobile hot spot. And with the growing concern over unsecured wifi service at coffee houses and other public areas where your information can be stolen, only you and your traveling companions can access the service.
There’s an easy online ordering process and one day before your trip, the package will arrive with everything you need. You’ll receive a carrying case, charging cables, extra batteries and options for other elements such as a battery boost. Once you’re back home, you simply mail it back within one day of arrival and that’s it. In the event you have technical issues while on the road, their customer service is extremely responsive so you’re never alone.
Compared to the data plans you can get from your wireless provider, the daily rental rates are a great deal. And, you don’t have to worry about going over a data limit — there is none while you’re traveling. Did I already mention that you can connect multiple devices? So be sure to check out this little device for your next international adventure.
